Obradors Scores 50th Career Goal in Home Opener Win

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (9/4/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team won in front of a packed home crowd in its first home game of the season against Louisiana Christian on Wednesday afternoon by the final score of 3-0.

With two goals in the win, Jacobo Obradors became the first Eagle ever to cross 50 goals in the history of the program.

Louisiana Christian started the match off hot, taking two shots on goal in the first five minutes, both saved by Eagles' keeper Rodrigo Pina.

WBU continued its strong defensive effort to close out the first half with two blocked shots to keep the game at 0-0 into halftime.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board out of the locker room.  Carlos Aedo found the back of the net in the 53rd minute thanks to a helpful pass from Jacob Doehman to put Williams up a score.

Five minutes later, Jacobo Obradors struck for career goal number 49 on a breakaway from the defense to put the Eagles up 2-0.

Obradors only waited two minutes to pass the 50 goal milestone, with a beautiful assist from Lucas Belinello and Hugo Gil to put WBU up 3-0 on the Wildcats.

Rodrigo Pina did his part between the sticks as well, recording his sixth career shutout.  Pina grabbed four saves in 90 minutes of action.

Williams Baptist will not wait long to play in front of a friendly crowd again.  The team will host Blue Mountain Christian (MS) on Friday, Sept. 6 at the WBU Soccer Field in Walnut Ridge.  Kick-off is set for noon.
