De Abreu Scores Twice in Eagles Loss to MACU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (9/2/24) – Freshman Victoria de Abreu struck for two goals against Mid-America Christian on Monday as the Williams Baptist University women's soccer team fell 6-2 in the Labor Day matchup.

MACU found the first goal of the day in only the seventh minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead.  The Evangels scored again in the 37th to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

MACU added to its lead in the first minute out of the intermission to push the lead to 3-0.

WBU scored its first goal of the season thanks to a yellow card in the box that gave Victoria de Abreu a chance to bury a penalty kick in the bottom left corner.

The Evangels quickly answered de Abreu's goal with three more that gave MACU a 6-1 lead.

Victoria de Abreu found the back of the net once again in the 85th minute of the match, but the scoring stopped there as the Eagles fell to MACU 6-2.

Lisa Craig grabbed 16 saves in 90 minutes for Williams, a performance that ties her for fifth for the most saves in a single game.

WBU will play its next match at home on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Randall.  Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
