Eagles Drop Midweek Doubleheader to DII Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Williams baseball team dropped their midweek doubleheader to the NCAA DII Ouachita Baptist Tigers, falling in game one 3-2 and 9-3 in game two. With the losses, the Eagles are now 18-18 on the year.

Game One

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the first inning thanks to a leadoff double from Dezmond Cordova, a RBI double from Nicholas Jones, and Luis Febres reaching on an error that allowed Jones to score. The Tigers got a run back in the bottom of the inning thanks to a solo homerun. They added two more in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. 

Cash Forrester pitched all 6.0 innings for the Eagles. He allowed three runs off five hits, walked one and struck out two. 

Game Two

The Tigers came out swinging in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning, two runs in the second, and one run in the third. Williams scored three runs in the fifth when Ryan Collins scored on a wild pitch, Chas Bell scored on a balk, and Cordova hit a RBI groundout to make it a 7-3 game. The Tigers plated two more runs in the fifth to make it a 9-3 game. 

Cole Doke got the start and pitched 1.1 innings. He allowed six runs off four hits and walked three. Jimmy Watson pitched 1.2 innings of relief and allowed one run off two hits, walked two and struck out two. Cole Edwards pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed one hit. Mason Andrews pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed two runs off three hits and walked two. Spencer Decker pitched 1.0 inning of relief, walked two and struck out one.

The Eagles travel to Columbia, Mo. this weekend for a three-game series against Columbia in AMC play. They will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game on Saturday starting at noon.
