WBU Falls to Columbia in Series Finale

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/23/24) – The Williams Baptist University baseball suffered a setback in game three of its series against Columbia College, losing 14-4 in the series finale.

Columbia struck first with one run in the top of the first, then struck with seven in the second inning.  Lawson Aaron scored Skylar Morrison with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the second to bring the score to 8-1 after two innings.

Columbia continued its offensive tirade in the third inning by plating four more runs to go up by 11 on the Eagles.  Columbia went on to score two more runs in the fourth and fifth to extend its lead to 14-1.

Alex Orman came home on a groundout to put the Eagles back on the board in the bottom of the fifth.  Drake Gravatt came home an inning later to move the score to 14-3.

Seth Jones laced a double down the left field line to score Josh Bennett in the bottom of the seventh, but the deficit proved to be too large for WBU as the team fell by the final score of 14-4.

Eagles baseball will be back in action with a road trip to Paragould, Ark. on Tuesday, March 26 against Crowley's Ridge.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM in the midweek contest.
