Eagles Fall in Regular Season Finale

CONWAY, Ark. (4/25/23) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team fell to Central Baptist in its final regular season contest by the final score of 16-6.

The Eagles (27-18, 9-12 AMC) will now look to the American Midwest Conference Tournament in O'Fallon, Mo. The team's first game will be on Tuesday at 10 AM against William Woods.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with three runs on four hits. WBU was held scoreless until a Gavin Mink single drove in the squad's first run in the top of the fifth.

The Eagles added two more in the top of the sixth with Josh Bennett and Skylar Morrison coming around on a throwing error.

Despite the Mustangs scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles continued to fight, plating three runs in the top of the seventh to bring the score to 10-6.

Central Baptist continued to add runs in the seventh and eighth, and the WBU offense failed to keep pace, conceding the run-rule victory in the regular season finale.

The Eagles will leave for the American Midwest Conference tournament on Monday, April 29, and take part in the awards banquet later that day.
