Eleven WBU Baseball Athletes Honored at AMC Baseball Banquet

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/30/24) - The American Midwest Conference handed out its annual postseason awards Monday night with 11 different Williams Baptist University baseball players earning recognition for their efforts this season.

Sophomore infielder Gavin Mink was named a First Team All-Conference selection after finishing the regular season with 43 RBIs and a .376 batting average. 

Parker Jefferies, Noah Willingham and Brevin Carlisle all earned Second Team All-Conference as pitchers after all three turned in stellar performances this year. Jefferies finished with a 6-3 mark and had 77 strikeouts, while Willingham held opponents to a .259 batting average and averaged just over nine strikeouts per game. Carlisle was solid as a starter and reliever and gave up just five home runs in 37 innings of work on the year. 

Jacob Watkins, Tyrell Burnett, Skylar Morrison and Nicholar Jones also earned Second-Team recognition for their efforts at the plate. Watkins finished with a .366 batting average and had 31 RBIs and scored 41 runs, while Burnett broke the WBU single season record for home runs in a season with 11. He also had a .405 batting average and added 30 RBIs, while Jones added 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and .353 batting average. Morrison was a two-way player, driving in 46 RBIs with a .327 batting average and nine home runs while also tossing 28 innings on the mound with 30 strikeouts. 

WBU also had two win Gold Gloves with catcher Luis Febres winning hardware for his efforts behind the backstop and Cody Jones winning a gold glove for his efforts in center field. 

Chas Bell was named to the Champions of Character of Team squad, which honors student-athletes that best exemplifies the NAIA Five Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Integrity and Servant Leadership.
