Eagles Finish Third in AMC Tournament Following Loss to Mustangs

O'FALLON, Mo. (5/2/23) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team saw its 2024 campaign come to a close following an 11-3 loss to three-seed Central Baptist in the American Midwest Conference Tournament.

The Eagles finish the season with a 30-20 overall mark, the club's highest win total since the 2001 season.

Central Baptist got starting pitcher Brevin Carlisle in trouble early, getting the first three batters on base and driving in a quick run in the bottom of the first inning.  Carlisle worked effectively after that to get out of the inning by inducing a much needed 6-4-3 twin killing and a lazy fly out to left field to escape without much damage done.

The Eagles responded on offense in the third with RBIs from Lawson Aaron on a groundout and Skylar Morrison on a single to take a 2-1 lead.

CBC came back to take control of the ballgame with a four spot in the bottom of the fourth, and WBU failed to keep up, falling behind 11-2 after seven.

Tate Isaacs cashed in with an RBI following Skylar Morrison's lead-off triple in the eighth, but ultimately fell in the elimination game, solidifying a third place finish in the AMC Tournament.
