Eagles Use Big Ninth Inning to Secure Series Sweep of Tigers
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (2/3/25) – A seven-run ninth inning cemented the third win in a row and first series sweep of 2025 for the Williams Baptist University baseball team on Monday night as the Eagles took down Champion Christian 12-4 in Hot Springs.
Lawson Aaron continued his hot streak at the plate with a 3-for-4 mark and an RBI. Skylar Morrison went 1-for-3 with four RBI's and a run scored. Jacob Watkins went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored as well.
Parker Jeffries picked up his first win of the season on the mound after four scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Jeffries became the first pitcher in program history to amass 20 wins on the mound in a career.
Williams went down 4-1 after a three-run fourth inning by the Tigers. WBU responded with two in the fifth and a run in the sixth to tie the game at four.
Skylar Morrison drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth to give the Eagles the late advantage.
The Eagles strung together hits from Morrison, Watkins, and Gavin Mink alongside hit-by-pitches and walks to post a seven spot in the top of the ninth. The Tigers were unable to push anything across in the bottom half of the inning as WBU took the series sweep.
WBU moves to 3-0 on the season overall. The Eagles return to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 7 for a home series against Philander-Smith. First pitch of game one on Friday is set for 12 p.m.
