PARAGOULD, Ark. (3/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team set a new record for runs in a game with 26 in a doubleheader split with Crowley's Ridge by the final scores of 10-7 and 26-0 at Pioneer Park on Saturday.
The Eagles started off game two with 12 runs in the top of the second inning, led by a three-run double from Cody Jones and two RBI's on two hits from Jacob Watkins.
Watkins led the way for the Eagles at the plate in the contest, going 4-for-5 with a double and five RBI's. Jones also drove in four on a 2-for-3 line with a home run.
A single from Alex Orman drove in the game's 22nd run to tie the school record in the sixth, then Hayden Graves drove in the 23rd run to break the record. Mason Andrews scored on a wild pitch and Mari Thomas smacked a two run single to put the Eagles at 26 runs in the seven-inning game.
Brevin Carlisle collected his first win of the season after going four scoreless innings with only one walk. Coleton Payton, Kaden Martin, and Dawson Cloud combined for three scoreless innings to close out the game and give WBU the series victory.
WBU lost game one 10-7 after CRC posted nine runs across the final two innings.
Gavin Mink drove in Luke Bullins and Lawson Aaron doubled to plate Mink to give WBU a 2-0 lead in the first. The Eagles led 5-1 before the Pioneers struck for four runs in the fifth to tie the game.
Mink and Nicholas Jones each had an RBI single in the seventh, but Williams was unable to complete the comeback.
Jolby Jones took his first loss of the season after throwing two thirds of an inning with one earned run.
The split moves WBU to 12-4 overall on the season and 5-3 in AMC play. Next, the Eagles will travel to Columbia, Mo. to face Columbia on Mar. 7 & 8. First pitch of game one against the Cougars on Friday is set for 1 p.m. from the Cougar Baseball Field in Columbia, Mo.
