COLUMBIA, Mo. (3/8/25) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team was swept in the final two games of a four game series against Columbia by the final scores of 11-1 and 8-3 in American Midwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Gavin Mink, Jacob Watkins, and Alex Orman collected the only hits for WBU in game one. The lone Williams run came on a sacrifice fly from Skylar Morrison in the sixth inning that scored Watkins.
Columbia played two in the first, one in the second, and seven in the third to take a 10-0 lead through three innings and coast to the win in game three of the series.
CC struck early again in game two with a three-run bottom of the first. The Cougars added another in the second and two more in the third to take a 6-0 advantage after three innings.
WBU got on the board in the top of the fourth courtesy of an RBI double from Gavin Mink. Skylar Morrison followed to drive in Mink on an RBI double of his own, then Lawson Aaron played Skylar Morrison two batters later to cut the Cougar lead to three.
Columbia answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 8-3, then held the Eagles scoreless in the final innings to complete the four-game sweep.
The losses drop WBU to 12-8 overall and 5-7 in AMC play. The Eagles will look to get back on track in conference play with a four-game set against Harris-Stowe at home on Mar. 14-15. First pitch of game one against the Hornets on Friday, Mar. 14 is set for noon from Shell Field.
