ST. LOUIS, Mo. (3/29/25) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team was swept in a doubleheader with No. 23 Missouri Baptist by the final scores of 5-2 and 9-4 at Spartan Field on Saturday.
MBU took game one behind two homers from Blayne Yarger in the first and second innings of the ballgame that put the Spartans out to a 3-0 lead.
Jacob Watkins cut the lead to two with an RBI in the third, then Mason Andrews doubled ro plate Alex Orman in the sixth to make it a one-run game.
The Spartans responded with a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to coast to the game one win.
After opening up scoring with a run in the second, the Spartans plated five runs in the fourth inning of game two to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
Williams responded with three runs in the fifth on RBI's from Gavin Mink, Lawson Aaron, and Alex Orman, but MBU added two more runs in the fifth and sixth to extend the lead to 9-3.
Aaron doubled for his second RBI of the game in the seventh, but the Eagles failed to mount a comeback and fell in its fourth straight game.
The Eagles drop to 20-14 overall and 11-13 in AMC play. WBU will return home for a midweek contest with Blue Mountain Christian on Tuesday, Apr. 1. First pitch against the Toppers is set for noon from Shell Field.
