WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team came up big in the ninth to force extra innings, but ultimately fell short in a midweek bout with Blue Mountain Christian by the final score of 7-6 in 10 innings.

Blue Mountain took advantage of some early control issues in the first inning to take a 4-0 advantage after drawing two bases-loaded walks.  Jolby Jones came on in relief to stop the bleeding in the first.

Down three runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles finally broke through on offense.  After Nicholas Jones and Lawson Aaron led off the inning with walks, Alex Orman singled to load the bases.  Mink scored on a fielder's choice a play later to cut the lead to two.

Down to the final out, Ethan Mannion hit a bloop single into center field to tie the ball game at 4-4 and send the game to extra innings.

The Toppers responded in the 10th.  An RBI single from Josiah Rivera put BMCU back on top 5-4, then Carson Gault launched a two-out double to score two more runs and push the advantage to 7-4.

The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, but ultimately fell short in the midweek bout by the final score of 7-6.
