Eagles Drop Doubleheader to Eutectics

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (4/11/25) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team fell in a Friday night doubleheader against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy by the final scores of 6-2 and 6-5 in American Midwest Conference action.

Tyrell Burnett led the way on offense for the Eagles in game one with two hits in two at-bats.

UHSP scored first in the contest with two home runs for a 3-0 lead after one.  Lawson Aaron hit a solo shot in the second to get a run back, but UHSP added two more runs in the second to take a 5-1 advantage.

Luke Bullins scored on an error in the fifth, but WBU was unable to overcome the deficit as UHSP took game one of the series 6-2.

Gavin Mink led the way in game two, going 3-for-5 with a run scored.

The Eagles got on the board first in the latter half of the twinbill, courtesy of a three-run homer from Alex Orman.  UHSP got one run back in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 3-1.

The score remained 3-1 until Lawson Aaron forced a run home on a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the top of the seventh.  Nicholas Jones followed up with a sacrifice fly to extend the Eagles lead to 5-1.

The lead did not last, though, as UHSP scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.  The Eutectics walked it off on an RBI single in the eighth to sweep the doubleheader.

The losses drop WBU to 20-17 overall and 11-15 in AMC play.  The Eagles and Eutectics will return to the diamond for the final two games of the four game set on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
