Eagles Blow Out Royals in Homecoming Win

Williams started the game on a 6-0 run, but the Royals wouldn't give up and came back to tie the game at 19 with 12 minutes left in the first half. It was back-and-forth for a few minutes until the Royals built up a seven point lead first with 8:24 left in the half, and then again with 5:56 left. That woke the Eagles up and they came back and tied it at 36 off a three-pointer by Braxton Haff with 3:38 left in the half. Haff made another three seconds later to give the Eagles the lead. From there, the Eagles would build up a six point lead going into halftime.

The Eagles came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Royals by 20. Ecclesia continued to hang around until about the halfway point of the second half when Haff hit another three to give the Eagles an 11 point lead and it was never under ten for the rest of the game. Shackeel Butters made a layup and converted an and-one opportunity to push the lead up to 20 with six minutes left.

Williams shot 50.6% from the field (40-79), 34.6% from beyond the arc (9-26), and 76.2% from the free-throw line (16-21). They committed 19 turnovers and 52 points in the paint.

Butters had his first double-double of the year with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Haff led all scorers with 25 points. Cortez King was also in double figures with 13 points, while EJ Anderson also had 13 points coming off the bench. Franklyn Petion contributed 11 points off the bench as well.
