Eagles Outlast Mustangs in Thriller

The Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead off a three-pointer from Tyreon Hardin, and buckets from EJ Anderson and Shackeel Butters. They pushed it to a 15-4 lead, but eventually the Mustangs were able to cut it to a two-point lead halfway thru the first half, but that seemed to wake Williams up and they ran up a 40-24 lead with 3:18 remaining in the half. The Mustangs would make a few more baskets and send it to halftime with the Eagles leading 44-36.

Central Baptist made the second half much harder on the Eagles as they chipped away at Williams' lead. They cut the Eagles' lead to five with 2:15 remaining in the game, and then to one-point when they made a three-pointer with :33 seconds left in the game. The Mustangs then fouled the Jayvon Clark to send him to line and stop the clock. He converted both of his free-throws and the pushed the Eagles' lead back to three. Central Baptist were able to get a three-point attempt off in hopes of tying the game, but it bounced off the rim and sealed the victory for the Eagles.

Williams shot 54.75% from the field (35-64), 23.5% from the three-point line (4-17), and 70.6% from the free-throw line (12-17).

Butters led the Eagles with 20 points. Cortez King had 16, Tyreon Hardin had 11, and Clark had 10.

TJ Clardy led Williams on the boards with 6.
