Eagles Take Decisive Win Over Moody

CHICAGO, Ill. (11/18/23) - The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team defeated Moody Bible Institute 121-45 on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles shot 53.8 percent from the field and 41.0 percent from three point range in the win.  They also out-rebounded the Archers 56-29, and had 76 points off the bench.

Seven Eagles put up double-digit points.  Jordan Johnson led the team with 15, while Ashton Young and Oluwandara Idowu both had 13. Duke Hardin and Jaron Burrow finished with 12, and Ben Keton and Jayvon Clark put up 10.  Idowu led the team with 12 rebounds, and Frank Petion followed close behind with 11 boards.

Hardin opened up the scoring two minutes into the ballgame with a couple of free throws, and the Eagles offense quickly caught fire after that, putting up a 19-0 run.  The Eagles would go into the locker room at halftime up 63-13 over the Archers.

The second half would be much the same as the first.  A Jarron Burrow three-pointer would put the Eagles over 100 points for the first time this season.  Oluwandara Idowu would provide the exclamation point with a slam dunk to put the Eagles up by 73 points.

With the win, WBU moves to 5-0 on the year, the program's best start since the 2003-04 season.

Next, the Eagles will continue the roadstand by traveling to Denver, Colo. to take on Colorado School of Mines in an exhibition match up on Monday Nov. 20.  Tip-off is set for 6 P.M.
