Eagles Fall on the Road to Wildcats 84-75

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell on the road to Bethel University by the final score of 84-75.

Ben Keton led the Eagles in points with 19. Rico Quinton led the team in rebounds with eight and added 17 points in his first game of the season.

WBU shot 45.3 percent as a team from the field, and 37.5 percent from three-point range.  The Eagles lost the rebound battle to Bethel 49-25.

The Eagles got out to an early lead in the game, starting on an 8-0 run powered by Duke Hardin and Ben Keton three-pointers.  The Eagles' lead would extend to 12-3 before Bethel stormed back to tie the game at 14.  WBU retook the lead at 23-16 courtesy of a Ben Keton jump shot, but would fall behind again with seven minutes left in the first half. Bethel would take a 42-36 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Eagles started to mount a comeback in the second half after Tevin Tate drew a foul and sunk his free throws to bring WBU within five with 9:30 to go.  That would be as close as the Eagles got, falling behind an 8-0 Bethel run to ice the game in favor of the Wildcats.

WBU will return to action Saturday, Jan. 6 in the Southerland-Mabee Center against Haskell.  Tip-off is set for 2 PM.
