WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/6/25) - The Williams Baptist men's basketball team lost to Haskell 88-69 in a non-conference matchup at the Southerland-Mabee center Saturday afternoon.
Duke Hardin led WBU with 17 points, while Ben Keton also finished in double-figures with 11. Ashton Young paced the squad with five rebounds.
The Indians never trailed in the contest and started the game on a 11-0 run to build a double-digit lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.
Haskell led 47-27 at halftime after shooting a blistering 53.1 percent (17-32) from the field in the period. The Indians scored 20 points off 13 Williams turnovers and knocked down 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) of their 3-point attempts. Nehemiah Boykins (13), Dakari Middletown (10) and Nahcs Wahwassuck (10) were all in double-figures at the break.
The Eagles made just 9-of-30 (30 percent) of their field goal attempts in the first half and struggled to find a rhythm offensively.
With the loss Williams dropped to 8-4 on the year, while the Indians improved to 4-12.
WBU returns to AMC play on Tuesday, Jan. 9 for a road contest at Central Baptist College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
