Eagles Fall to Mustangs in Road Matchup

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/9/24) - The Williams Baptist men's basketball team lost to Central Baptist on Tuesday night in a conference matchup by the score of 87-67.

Duke Hardin led the Eagles with 20 points, and Ben Keton followed with 17. Ashton Young had the most boards with six.

The Eagles began the game with a 5-0 run courtesy of a layup and a three from Duke Hardin, and the Mustangs followed with a 9-0 run to take the 9-5 lead. The Eagles match CBC's pace until the Mustangs rattled off a 12-0 run with 1:40 left in the first half.  CBC would go into the locker room up 38-23.  Central Baptist would not relinquish this lead for the rest of the contest.

Williams struggled to find a rhythm on offense, shooting only 22.2 percent from the field in the first half. The team shot 51.6 percent in the second half, but it would not be enough.

The loss drops WBU to 8-5 on the year and 0-2 in AMC play.

WBU returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 11 against AMC foe Harris-Stowe State in the Southerland-Mabee Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
