Eagles Roll Eutectics on Senior Day

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/17/24) – In the final home game of the regular season, the Williams Baptist University men's basketball team rolled past the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy by the final score of 103-58.

Prior to the game, five seniors were honored for their hard work and dedication to the Eagles Men's Basketball program.  T.J. Clardy, Cory Sanders, Duke Hardin, Ben Keton, and Jayvon Clark were all recognized for their contributions to the success of the program lately.  Keton, Hardin, and Clardy also received recognition for surpassing the 1,000 career point mark this season.

The all-senior starting lineup made its mark on the game early with TJ Clardy catching a lob pass from Jayvon Clark and slamming it home only five seconds into the contest.  The Eagles turned this spark into a quick 13-2 run to force a Eutectic timeout.

The Eagles continued to play well throughout the first half, going into the locker room up 50-27.

Duke Hardin powered the WBU offense in the second half, scoring 14 of his team-leading 28 points after the break.  Hardin finished only four points shy of his career high.

Late in the second half, each senior was substituted by an underclassmen to thunderous applause from Eagles fans.

Oluwadara Idowu lit up the Southerland-Mabee Center with three dunks in the final minutes of the game, totaling eight points for the sophomore big-man.

WBU was led in scoring by Duke Hardin with 28 points, in rebounds by EJ Johnson with 11, and in assists by Jayvon Clark with seven.  The Eagles shot 43.4 percent from the field as a team, including a 40.5 percent mark from beyond the three-point line.

During halftime, senior cheerleaders Alex Noe and Courtney Tucker were also recognized for their dedication to WBU.

The Eagles will make the final road swing of the season next week, starting at Missouri Baptist on Thursday, Feb. 22.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. in St. Louis, Mo.
