Eagles Fall in Regular Season Finale at William Woods

FULTON, Mo. (2/24/24) - The Williams Baptist men's basketball team dropped its final regular season contest to Williams Woods 73-42 at Anderson Arena.

With the loss the Eagles (13-11, 5-8 AMC) will be the No. 5 seed in next week's American Midwest Conference Tournament and will travel back to Fulton, Mo., to play the No. 4 seeded Owls on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.

WBU got off to a slow start and never found a rhythm against the Owls on Saturday. Williams shot just 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the field and committed 14 turnovers in the contest. 

Ben Keton led the way for the Eagles with 13 points, while Tevin Tate and Jayvon Clark had six rebounds each. 

Williams Woods led 30-18 at halftime and slowly increased their lead in the second half, which grew to as much as 34 points.

In the first half WBU trailed 12-10 after a jump shot from Keton, but the Owls responded with a 9-0 run to push the lead to nine.  

The Eagles got to within 21-18 after a 3-pointer from Clark, but William Woods answered again with another 9-0 run to close out the half and take a 12 point edge in the locker room.
