FULTON, Mo. (2/29/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball season came to an end on Thursday night at the hands of a 68-58 defeat from William Woods in the first round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament presented by TandemHR.
TJ Clardy led the team in scoring with 11 points on the night, followed closely by Duke Hardin and Corey Sanders who both scored 10. Clardy also led the squad in rebounds with seven boards. Ben Keton dished out four assists in the contest.
The teams swapped baskets through the first four minutes of the game. After WBU tied the game at 7-7 with a Jayvon Clark layup, William Woods went on a 9-3 run to take a 16-8 lead.
After going into halftime down 39-24, the Eagles came out of the locker room looking to make a comeback. The Eagles improved on defense, forcing nine Owls turnovers and out-scoring WWU 34-29 in the second half.
Despite the improvement in the second half, the Eagles fell 68-58 to end the 2023-24 campaign.
The Eagles finish the year with a 13-13 overall record.
