Wilson Scores 34 in Eagles Loss to William Woods

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/23/24) – Junior Amarion Wilson scored a career-high 34 points as the Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell 84-66 to William Woods on Saturday inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Wilson scored his 34 points on a 13-for-18 shooting clip including 3-for-4 from three-point range.  Elisha Cofield led the team on the boards with six rebounds on the night.

As a team, WBU shot 43.8 percent from the floor on 21-for-48 including a 6-for-15 clip on three-pointers.  William Woods won the rebound battle 37-26.

Williams took its first lead of the ballgame on a Wilson layup only three minutes into the first half.  After Woods took the lead back on a pair of free throws, a Cooper Rabjohn trey put the Eagles back on top 9-6 through seven minutes. An 8-0 Owls run forced an Eagles timeout as Williams fell behind 14-10.

The Eagles used an 8-4 run at the end of the second half to cut the Owls lead to four before halftime.  The Eagles went into the locker room down 33-29 through 20 minutes.

Woods used a 9-2 run at the beginning of the second half to force an Eagles timeout and take a 42-32 lead.  The Owls never trailed for the rest of the game.

Williams falls to 3-4 on the year and 0-2 in AMC play.  The Eagles return to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26 against Bethel (Tenn.) in McKenzie, Tenn.  Tip-off against the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m.
