Eagles Overwhelmed by Wildcats
McKENZIE, Tenn. (11/26/24) – Amarion Wilson and Cooper Rabjohn combined for 53 Eagle points as the Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell to Bethel 85-72 on Tuesday night inside Crisp Arena.
Amarion Wilson took the team-lead in scoring with 27 points on 12-for-23 shooting. Cooper Rabjohn poured in 26 on 6-for-10 from three-point range in his first collegiate start. Elisha Cofield finished with 11 rebounds to lead the squad on the boards.
Williams drained 43.8 percent of its shot attempts (28-for-64) against Bethel including a 45.8 percent mark from downtown (11-for-24). The Eagles lost the rebound battle 37-27, but dominated the paint with 28 points down low.
After falling behind early, a three-pointer from Amarion Wilson tied the game at 19 with 9:25 left in the first quarter. Bethel went on a 12-2 run to take back the advantage. A late Rabjohn triple brought WBU within two, but the team failed to come any closer and went into the locker room down 37-31.
Bethel came out of halftime on a 16-3 to put a big distance between the squads to start the second half. The Eagles looked to mount a comeback behind the hot hand of Rabjohn, who went 3-for-4 from deep in the stanza, but failed to match the Wildcats' scoring pace to fall 85-72.
Williams falls to 3-5 overall on the season. The Eagles will take a break for Thanksgiving and return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7 against AMC foe Columbia. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from the Arena at Southwell Complex in Columbia, Mo.
