Eagles Fall Short Against Cougars

COLUMBIA, Mo. (12/7/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell to Columbia 77-56 inside the Arena of Southwell Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Charles Brown Jr. led the Eagles in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-14 from the field, and led the team on the boards with seven rebounds.  Amarion Wilson also finished in the double-digits with 11 and Jordan Johnson put up a season-high 11 in the contest.

The Eagles went 21-for-64 (32.8 percent) from the field as a team including 10 three-pointers.  WBU lost the rebound battle 58-32, but forced seven Cougar turnovers.

The Eagles took the first five points of the game on a Wilson jumper and a Jadyn Ramsey triple, but Columbia quickly responded with a 19-3 swing to take back the momentum.  The Cougars pushed the lead to 20 on a Collin Parker jumper before the end of the half to take a 44-24 lead into the locker room.

Columbia continued to run away with the ball game in the second period. Williams finished the game on an 18-4 run but it was not enough to close the gap as the Eagles fell 77-56.

WBU drops to 3-6 overall on the season and 0-3 in AMC play.  The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 14 at home against UHSP.  Tip-off against the Eutectics is set for 3 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
