
Williams Defeated by Trojans on the Road
HANNIBAL, Mo. (1/16/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell to Hannibal-LaGrange in American Midwest Conference action on Thursday night by the final score of 69-56.
Charles Brown Jr. was the Eagles leading scorer in the contest, matching his season-high of 14 points on 5-for-13 shooting from the field, while Cooper Rabjohn hit 4-of-7 three-pointers for 12 points. Amarion Wilson and Elisha Cofield also finished in the double-digits in scoring with 10 points on the night. Wilson was the squad's leading rebounder with nine boards.
As a team, WBU went 20-for-62 (32.3 percent) from the field, while Hannibal went 23-for-67. The Trojans out-rebounded Williams 40-32.
Williams fell behind early, but a Charles Brown Jr free throw capped off a 9-0 Eagle run to storm back for a 12-8 lead. HLGU took the lead back on a Chris Cross three with 9:06 left in the first. A Trahe Qualls triple cut the Trojan lead to four with a minute and a half left, but another Cross three-pointer sent HLGU into the locker room up 36-29.
Hannibal extended its lead in the second half with an 11-4 run to begin the stanza. The Eagles were unable to mount a comeback and fell at the hands of the Trojans 69-56.
The loss drops WBU to 4-10 overall on the season and 1-7 in conference play. Up next, the Eagles will return home to the Southerland-Mabee Center on Monday, Jan. 20 to take on Central Baptist. Tip-off against the Mustangs is set for 5 p.m.
