FULTON, Mo. (1/25/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell on the road to No. 22 William Woods 96-55 inside Anderson Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Cooper Rabjohn led WBU in scoring with 18 points on 6-for-14 from the field including a 4-for-10 mark from three-point range. Elisha Cofield followed close behind with his second straight game with a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles went 21-for-55 (38.2 percent) from the floor in the matchup. WBU struggled at the free throw line, sinking only six of 14 from the charity stripe. Williams also struggled to stop the Owls on defense, allowing William Woods to shoot 53.6 percent from the field with a 41.7 percent mark from three-point range.
WBU lost the rebound battle 43-27, and Williams turned 10 Owl turnovers into 17 points.
After DJ Townsend knocked down a three to give WBU a 6-4 lead, William Woods broke off a 15-3 run to take back a commanding advantage. The Eagles went into halftime down 52-32.
The Eagles were unable to gain any momentum in the second half of the game, as the team was outscored 44-23 in the stanza. William Woods held on to take the 96-55 win at home.
The loss drops WBU to 4-13 overall on the season and 1-10 in conference play. The Eagles will regroup and look forward to taking on Columbia at home on Thursday, Jan. 30. Tip-off against the Cougars is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
