Eagles Fall to No. 18 Central Baptist on the Road

CONWAY, Ark. (2/13/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell to No. 18 Central Baptist in an American Midwest Conference matchup by the final score of 102-58 on Thursday night.

DJ Townsend led the Eagles with 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor.  Elisha Cofield led the team on the glass with seven rebounds.

As a team, WBU went 24-for-63 (38.1 percent) from the field.  The Mustangs went 50.7 percent from the floor with 16 made three-pointers.  The Eagles lost the rebound battle 52-29.  The Eagles never led in the contest.

CBC began the game on a 13-2 run through five minutes to force a WBU timeout.  The Mustangs continued to pile on to take a 57-25 lead into halftime.

The Eagles were unable to dig out of the hole in the second half as CBC extended its lead to as much as 55 with two and a half minutes to play.

The loss drops WBU to 4-18 overall and 1-15 in AMC play.  The Eagles return to the floor on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Missouri Baptist in St. Louis, Mo.  Tip-off against the Spartans is set for 4 p.m. from inside the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC.
