Eagles Play Cougars to a Draw

The Williams Baptist University Men's Soccer team battled the No. 18 Columbia Cougars to a 1-1 draw in American Midwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The first 30 minutes of the match went by scoreless until Jacob Doehman found the back of the net in the 33rd minute with a perfect ball from the right corner. 

The Eagles would continue to hold the Cougars scoreless until Columbia's Sidiki Kromah found the equalizing score in the 83rd minute with assists from Dylan Prater and Miguel Gonzalez.

The Eagles threatened to take the lead in the waning seconds of the match when Jacobo Obradors appeared to have a chance on goal, but was taken down in the box before he could score the deciding goal.  

Rodrigo Pina secured seven saves in 90 minutes in goal for WBU.

The Eagles will look to remain undefeated in conference play in St. Louis, Mo. next Saturday, Oct. 14 against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at 5:30 p.m.
