Gil Named NAIA Third-Team All-American

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (12/11/23)  – Williams Baptist University senior midfielder Hug Gil has been named a NAIA Third-Team All-American after his outstanding season with the Eagles men's soccer team this year.

Gil helped lead Williams to a second-straight American Midwest Conference regular season conference championship and an 11-4-2 overall record, including a 5-0-2 stanza in the league. The run included a march to the AMC championship game against Columbia for the second time as well.

The senior from Madrid, Spain led the AMC with 12 assists and also had two goals on the year. He helped orchestrate the Eagles' attack that scored a league high 46 goals and played a vital role in the team's defense when asked to fill that position.

Gil is the first WBU men's soccer player to be named as NAIA Third-Team All-American or better in the school's history. He joins Alejandro Perez, Lucas Camilo, and Jacobo Obradors who were named NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans in 2022 as the only players to earn national recognition in school history.
