Obradors' Two Goals Lifts Eagles to Win Over No. 24 LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (9/10/24) – Jacobo Obradors scored twice in the second half to lift the Williams Baptist University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over No. 24 LSU-Shreveport on Tuesday afternoon.

The first half was a defensive deadlock.  LSU-Shreveport put up the only shot on goal of the half, which was saved by the sure handed WBU keeper Rodrigo Pina that sent the teams into the locker room tied at 0-0.

WBU came out hot out of the intermission with WBU's all-time goals leader Jacobo Obradors finding the back of the net with an assist from Hugo Gil in the 53rd minute to put the Eagles up 1-0.

Obradors kept the momentum going with another goal only four minutes later, this time assisted by Lucas Mahlow that gave Williams a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The Eagles defense held strong throughout the rest of the match, only allowing two more shots on goal from the Pilots in the final 45 minutes, both of which were saved.

Rodrigo Pina played all 90 minutes between the sticks during the match, grabbing three saves on three attempts.  Pina secured his seventh career shutout, moving him only one behind the second highest career mark.

The win moves WBU to a 3-1-2 record on the season.  The Eagles next test will come against John Brown University on Saturday, Sept. 14.  Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. from Siloam Springs, Ark.
