SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (9/14/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team played John Brown (Ark.) to a 0-0 draw on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Rodrigo Pina put in a masterful effort between the goalposts to keep the game scoreless with five saves on the day, including two all-out diving saves in the 90th minute on two headers from JBU.
The Eagles only shot on goal came from Mateus Ribeiro in the 51st minute, but the chance was smothered by the John Brown goalkeeper.
John Brown had a massive opportunity in the 72nd minute with a penalty kick, but Pina was able to make the save to keep the Eagles in business.
The draw moves the Eagles to a 3-1-3 record on the year. The team will continue its roadstand in the nightcap of a men's and women's doubleheader next Friday, Sept. 20 in McKenzie, Tenn. against Bethel. Kick-off is set for 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
