CONWAY, Ark. (10/22/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team took home an in-state victory over Central Baptist on Tuesday night by the final score of 4-0.
The Eagles out-shot the Mustangs 7-5 in the match. The Eagles landed six of those shots on target.
Colin Haupt scored the eventual game-winner in the 17th minute of the match for his first goal as an Eagle. WBU stood tall on defense to take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
After the intermission, Eagle goalkeeper Rodrigo Pina saved a potential Mustang equalizer to keep the Eagles ahead by one. Pina made two saves total in the match in two chances in all 90 minutes between the posts.
Reigning AMC Player of the Week Jacobo Obradors added an insurance score in the 66th minute to go up 2-0. His 14th goal of the season moves him into a tie with himself for the second most goals in a season, only one behind Jorge Mojica's 15 goal year in 2010.
Adrian Briceno added a score of his own to put Williams up 3-0 in the 73rd, and Mateus Ribeiro sunk WBU's fourth score of the night in the 80th minute to secure the 4-0 win.
The win moves Williams Baptist to 7-3-4 on the season and 3-2-0 in AMC play. The Eagles will look to continue their three game win streak on Saturday, Oct. 26 on the road against Harris-Stowe State. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from St. Louis, Mo.
