Carl Kennedy was hired as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at WBU prior to the 2023 season.

In his first season as head coach, Kennedy was named American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year for leading WBU to an undefeated record in conference play and a regular season title. Williams finished with a 11-4-2 overall record with a 5-0-2 record in conference play that culminated in a trip to the AMC title game.

Prior to joining the Eagles, Kennedy was a Graduate Assistant at Missouri Baptist University, where he helped lead the Spartans to a 12-6 record and the program’s first top-25 ranking since 2006.  He also coached at Blackpool Academy in Blackpool, England from 2020 to 2021, where he received his Level Two Coaching Badge.

As a player, Kennedy was the captain of the Shaw University soccer team from 2018-20.  During the summer of 2019 he played for FC Buffalo in the NPSL where he started in all competitive matches and was nominated for player of the year.  Kennedy also played for the St. Louis Lions in 2018 in the PDL.  Carl earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the Conference Carolinas while at Chowan University in 2017.

Carl graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2020.
