WBU Swim Team Falls to University of the Ozarks
The Williams Baptist University men's swimming team dropped a dual swim meet match to the University of Ozarks 107-58, while the women's swim team lost 190-30 Saturday.
In the men's events, Hayden Woodring captured two individual titles by winning the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 26.03 and the 100 yard butterfly in 59.70. He also placed third in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.96.
Eric Burns finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle (13:07.24), 200 yard freestyle (2:15.45) and the 500 yard freestyle (6:09.26). Keegan Naegeli was second in the 50 yard backstroke (37.56) and fifth in the 100 yard freestyle (1:06.30).
Esteban Gonzalez earned a second place finish in the 50 yard backstroke (37.52) and the 50 yard freestyle (27.22), while finishing third in the 100 yard freestyle (1:03.03).
The team of Burns, Gonzalez, Woodring and Nageli also finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:05.18.
In the women's races, Lizzy Broussard finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle (13:12.68), 100 yard butterfly (1:14.84) and 500 yard freestyle (6:28.33). Hanna Rushin was second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:47.15), third in the 100 yard freestyle (1:19.83) and fifth in the 50 yard freestyle (35.27).
Kyla Bethell earned a second place finish in the 50 yard breaststroke (37.20) and a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (31.77) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:23.84).
The squad will gear up for competition at the Liberal Arts Championships Meet in Hobart, Ind., Feb. 14-17.
