WBU Track and Field Competes at Principia Relays
ELSAH, IL. (1/27/24) - The Williams Baptist University men's and women's track teams turned in solid performances at the two-day Principia Relays indoor track & field meet hosted by Principia College at the Coach Crafton Athletic Center.
The Eagles placed in the top-5 in five different events, highlighted by a first place finish in the women's 1600 sprint medley relay. The race team of Miracle Holmes, Allyson Marlow, Maddison Mittag and Mikey Larson turned in a time of 4:48.68 to take the top spot in the race for Williams.
In the men's 1600 sprint relay, Ty Gramling, Ralph Iweriebor, Lamont Evans and Jason Detrick combined for a time of 4:23.24 which placed them in fourth place.
Marlow took home a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 9.99m (32-9.50'), while Larson was sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 21:42.97. Gramling was ninth in the men's long jump with a jump of 5.78m (18-11.75').
In other events, Tucker Coleman finished 13th in the men's shot put with a throw of 12.82m (42-0.75'), while Jacob Short was 16th with a toss of 12.12m (39-9.25'). Cody Carden finished 33rd in the event with a throw of 8.85m (29-0.50').
In the women's shot put, Calista Christian finished 19th with a throw of 9.73m (31-11.25'), while Kady Greer was 26th after a toss of 8.43m (27.8.00').
In the women's long jump, Dayshia Espinoza-Ford was 17th with a jump of 3.09m (10-1.75'), while Mittag finished 29th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.55 followed by Holmes in 33rd (33.60). In the men's 200 meter dash Iweriebor was 41st (25.45), followed by Gramling in 42nd (25.50) and Evans in 44th (25.78).
The squad will gear up for the AMC Indoor Championships Feb. 17 in Elsah, Ill..
