Eagles Win Big Over Central Baptist on Senior Night

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (12/7/23)  – The Williams Baptist University Wrestling team beat (RV) Central Baptist College in a dual 40-16 on Thursday night in the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Seniors Alzarius Boykins, Kendric Gordon, Isaiah Vizcarrondo, Jonathan Vizcarrondo, and Johnny Baldwin were all honored before the match for their hard work and dedication put towards the Williams Baptist Wrestling program.

CBC jumped out to an early 12-0 lead thanks to a forfeit win in the 125 and a David Corretjer win by fall over WBU's Gatlin Taylor in the 133 pound matchup.

Isaiah Vizcarrondo would get the Eagles on the board to start the night with a win by forfeit in the 141 pound matchup.

CBC would strike back with a major decision win from Alejandro Mas over Johnny Baldwin to take a 16-6 lead, but that would be the end of the scoring for the Mustangs.

The Eagles would then get three quick wins by fall from Alzarius Boykins, Jonathan Vizcarrondo, and Jakob Wilcox in the 157, 165, and 174 matches respectively to take a 24-16 lead in the dual.

Kendric Gordon would add the exclamation point with a major decision win over Luke Jasper in the 184 to put the Eagles up 28-16.

WBU would take two more forfeit wins in the 197 and heavyweight bouts to take a decisive 40-16 win over the Mustangs.

Next, the Eagles will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to participate in the Spartan Invite hosted by Missouri Baptist University on Jan. 13.
