WBU Wrestling Competes at Missouri Valley Invite

MARSHALL, Mo. (1/20/24) - Isaiah Vizcarrondo and Alzarius Boykins each posted wins as the Williams Baptist men's wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley Invite. 

Vizcarrondo went 1-2 on the day and brought home a win over Guiseppe Guerra (St. Ambrose University) (Dec 8-2) in the 141 weight class. His day began with a loss to Bret Minor (Life University) by technical fall and ended with a loss to Channing Porter (Arizona Christian University). 

Boykins also went 1-2 in the 157 weight class with a win over Juan Lopez (Graceland University) (Dec 6-1). He ended the day with back-to-back losses to Andreus Bond (Southeastern) by fall and then to Dylan Straley (Southern Oregon) by technical fall.

In the 133 weight class Gatlin Taylor dropped matches to Chandlar Akins (Cumberlands (Ky.) by fall and to Ryan McNeel (Avila) also by fall. Ross Womack went 0-2 in the 149 division with losses to Karter Brink (Avila) via a 11-5 decision and Bradley Owens (Brewton-Parker (GA)) on a technical fall.

Also in the 149 weight class, Johnny Baldwin lost matches to Terrell Carter-Williams (Avila) and Moses Torres (Oklahoma City). Jonathan Vizcarrondo was 0-2 in the 165 division with losses to (Grand View) and Carlo Castagnaro (Arizona Christian University). 

In the 174 division Jakob Wilcox lost to Maximus Zamora (Menlo) by fall and Jeraimiah Nyberg (Graceland University), also by fall. Kendric Gordon was 0-2 in the 184 weight class with losses to Luke Jenness (Northwestern) by fall and KJ Swanson (Providence) by major decision.

The team returns to action Jan. 27 at the AMC Duals in Oklahoma City, Okla.
