Gordon, Baldwin Earn All-Conference Honors at AMC/Sooner Championship

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (2/17/24) - The Williams Baptist University wrestling finished seventh with a team score of 39 points at the American Midwest Conference/Sooner Athletic Conference championship hosted by Missouri Baptist Saturday afternoon.

Kendric Gordon and Johnny Baldwin each earned AMC/SAAC All-Conference honors in their respective weight classes for the Eagles. 

Alazarius Boykins earned the best individual finish of the day for Williams after earning a third place finish in the 157 weight class. He began his day with a technical fall over Kyle Bahl (Central Baptist) 3-22 (TF-1.5 3:00 (17-1)), before losing to Joel Cambell (Missouri Baptist University) in the semifinals by fall. 

He bounced back to defeat his teammate Ta`shon White by technical fall 5-11 (TF-1.5 2:05 (15-0)) in the consolation bracket and then downed Inson Guerrier (Central Baptist (Ark.)) 8-20 (Fall 1:06) in the third-place match.

White finished fifth in the same weight class with victories over Jack Killian (William Woods University ) 1-16 (MD 16-4) and Idael Reyes (Jarvis Christian College) 5-12 (Fall 4:43) to earn crucial points for his team. 

Baldwin also earned a fifth place finish in the 141 weight wins over Jack O`Neil (Texas Wesleyan) 2-10 (Fall 2:19) and Vincent Sandoval (Wayland Baptist (Texas)) 3-16 (Dec 6-1).

Gordon earned 2.5 points in the 184 weight class with a win over Kyle Burke (William Woods University ) 2-4 (Fall 6:20) in the consolation bracket.
