
Cooley Named WBU Wrestling Head Coach
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (5/8/23) – The Williams Baptist University athletic department has announced that WBU alum Erik Cooley will take over as the school's fourth head wrestling coach.
Prior to joining Williams, Cooley served as the General Manager at D-1 Training, where he oversaw the coordination, implementation, and administrative aspects of the facility. During his tenure, Cooley increased operational revenue within the first month of his employment.
He also served as an assistant coach at SIckles High School in Tampa, Fla., where he coached wrestlers on technique, format and safe training practices as well as provided support and counseling for young athletes.
"I am excited to return to Williams and lead the wrestling program," Cooley said. "I cannot wait to get work and continue the high standard that WBU wrestling has become known for."
In addition to his coaching experience, Cooley brings a solid background in operations management, having served as an Operations Scheduler at Quality Carriers and as a Guest & Member Relations Representative with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Cabot, Ark. native graduated from Williams Baptist with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management/Administration in 2019.
As a wrestler, Cooley was part of WBU's 2017 AMC Conference Championship team, as well as a three-time place finisher in the Arkansas State Wrestling Championships at Cabot High School.
