WBU Competes in Pepsi Patriot Open

CORBIN, Ky. (11/4/24) – The Williams Baptist University wrestling team kicked off its 2024-25 campaign at the Pepsi Patriot Open hosted by the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday.

Micah Oltmanns led the way for the Eagles in the open 285 with a win by fall to advance to the quarter finals.  The junior eventually fell in the quarter finals and lost in the consolation bracket to finish 1-2 in the event.

Freshman Noel Mejia picked up a win in the consolation bracket of the freshman/sophomore 125 class.  The 10-7 decision was the first win of Mejia's collegiate career.

Jimmy Singleton, Ian Halfacre, Peyton Holland, Gatlin Taylor, Ross Womack, and Abram Fessenden all went 0-2 in the event.

The Eagles will return to the mat on Wednesday, Nov. 13 for a dual against Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark.
