Eagles Cross Country Opens Season at Lyon College Invitational

BATESVILLE, Ark. (9/11/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's and women's cross country teams began the 2024 season at the Lyon College Invitational in Batesville, Ark. on Friday, Sept. 6.

Keiten Nash led the way on the men's side of the event, finishing 14th of 27 runners with a final time of 20:59.12 in his first collegiate event.

Bryan Williams also made his Eagle cross country debut in the meet, finishing in 20th place with a time of 22:59.57.

Jason Detrick and Cody Carden rounded out the squad with 23rd and 24th place finishes, respectively.  Detrick came in with a final time of 24:01.98, and Carden finished at 24:11.26.

On the women's side, Aletta Jonker paced the team with a final time of 22:42.69, good for a sixth place finish.

Alyssa Russell finished in 18th with a time of 40:32.88, and Aubrey Beams finished in 19th with a time of 40:37.03.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 in Searcy, Ark. at the Steve Guymon XC Invite, hosted by Harding University.
