Jennifer Mathis Named Head Coach of WBU Cross Country 

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/3/25) – The Williams Baptist University athletic department has named Jennifer Mathis the head coach of its men's and women's cross country teams ahead of the 2025 season, the university announced on Thursday.

Before landing at Williams, Mathis coached multiple sports in the Clear Creek School District in Houston, Tex.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer as the new head coach of our cross-country program at Williams Baptist University," said WBU Athletics Director Mitch Mathis.  "Coach Mathis brings a passion for developing student-athletes and a vision for growing our program. We look forward to building a strong team that will compete at a high level in the American Midwest Conference. This is a great time to be an Eagle, and we can't wait to see the impact she will have on our program!"

"I am excited to get the opportunity to lead WBU Cross Country," said Jennifer Mathis.  "I love this university and the people around it.  I hope to bring in athletes that make WBU an even better place to thrive!"

Mathis also serves as the Director of Library Services at Williams Baptist University, and will continue in that role.
