Lady Eagles Sweep Stillman

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Williams Baptist softball team had its offense rolling in a pair of wins against Stillman College on Thursday, 5-2 and 9-0.

Game One
Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.) threw a complete game shutout of the Tigers in the first game, while getting help from her offense to win 5-0. Shelby Jones (SO/Ravenna, Texas) scored on a passed ball and then Kaydra Cole (JR/Paragould, Ark.) scored on Kennedy Johnson (FR/Forney, Texas)'s sac fly in the first inning. In the sixth inning, Macy Carter (JR/Paragould, Ark.) hit a RBI double to score Camryn Martin (SR/Marion, Ark.). Finally, in the seventh inning, Hali Williams (JR/Bells, Texas) scored off Cole's RBI sac fly and Megan Weis (FR/Republic, Mo.) scored on error by the center fielder.

Jones led the team going 2-4, while Cole, Johnson, and Carter all tallied an RBI.

Temple pitched a complete game, giving up three hits, walking three, and striking out eight.

Game Two
Again, the Lady Eagles were hot offensively in the second game. In the second inning, Maggie Crossno (SR/Senath, Mo.) hit a RBI triple to score Alyssa Cordell (SO/Bentonville, Ark.), and then Crossno scored on a RBI single by Emma Shinn (SR/Melbourne, Ark.). In the third inning, Kayla Spray (SO/Detroit, Texas) scored on Cordell's RBI groundout. In the fifth inning, Laila Byas (FR/Cleveland, Miss.) stole home and Cole scored on Johnson's RBI groundout. Weis scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Finally in the seventh inning, Cole scored on Crossno's RBI single, Johnson scored on Martin's RBI single, and Crossno scored on a wild pitch.

Crossno led the team going 3-4 with 2 RBI.

Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched a complete game, giving up two runs off six hits, walking three and striking out six.
