Lady Eagles Go 1-3 at Gulf Shores Invitational

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Williams Baptist softball team went 1-3 at the Gulf Shores Invitational. They defeated Blue Mountain 4-3 and lost to (25) Webber International 6-3, Southeastern University 3-2, and (12) William Carey 8-6. They are now 7-7 on the season.

In the Blue Mountain game, Shelby Jones (SO/Ravenna, Texas) went 2-4 with one RBI, while Megan Weis (FR/Republic, Mo.) and Madison Knight (FR/Albany, La.) also had one RBI each. Angel Gillette (SO/Spring, Texas) pitched a complete game, giving up three runs off eight hits, while walking four and striking out five.

In the (25) Webber International game, Kennedy Johnson (FR/Forney, Texas) went 1-4 with 2 RBI, while Macy Carter (JR/Paragould, Ark.) went 1-3 with one RBI. Jillian Hunter (SO/Covington, Tenn.) pitched a complete game giving up six runs off seven hits, walking two and striking out one.

In the Southeastern game, Johnson and Weis both went 1-3, while Kaydra Cole (JR/Paragould, Ark.) got one RBI. Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.) pitched a complete game, giving up three runs off seven hits and striking out two.

In the (12) William Carey game, Weis went 2-3 with 2 RBI and Alyssa Cordell (SO/Bentonville, Ark.) went 1-4 with one RBI. Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched 4.2 innings, giving up three runs off eight hits, walking four and striking out four. Jillian Hunter pitched 2.1 innings in relief and gave up five runs and walked two.
