Lady Eagles Fall at Texas A&M-Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Williams Baptist softball team dropped its doubleheader matchup at the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles on Tuesday afternoon, falling 6-1 in game one and 2-1 in game two.

Game One

The Lady Eagles score their run in the first inning when Alyssa Cordell (SO/Bentonville, Ark.) came in to score off Maggie Crossno (SR/Senath, Mo.)'s RBI double to center. Unfortunately, that was all the offensive that Williams was able to muster in game one as they only had three hits total.

Crossno, Cordell, and Shelby Jones (SO/Ravenna, Texas) all collected hits for the Lady Eagles.

Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.) got the start in the circle and pitched 5.0 innings. She gave up six runs off nine hits, walked three, and struck out three. Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched 1.0 inning of relief and walked one.

Game Two

Again, the Lady Eagles scored in the top of the first when Cordell came around to score after Crossno reached base on a dropped fly ball by the right fielder. The Lady Eagles collected four hits in the game from Crossno, Cordell, Jones, and Chasity Gandy (SR/Greenbrier, Ark.).

Angel Gillette (SO/Spring, Texas) pitched a complete game for the Lady Eagles and gave up two runs off five hits, walked four, and struck out one.
