Lady Eagles Swept by (20) Central Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams Baptist softball team dropped its doubleheader against (20) Central Baptist on Saturday afternoon. They lost game one 11-4 and game two 4-1.

Game One

The Lady Eagles took the early lead with two runs in the first inning off Maggie Crossno (SR/Senath, Mo.)'s 2RBI double to deep right-center field. The Mustangs would plate three in the top of the fifth to take the lead, but the Lady Eagles responded in the home half of the frame with a 2-run bomb by Crossno to take the lead right back. However, the Mustangs would plate five runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to take an 11-4 lead. The Lady Eagles got the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to try and start a rally, but were unable to get a run across.

Crossno led the team going 3-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs and one home run.

Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.)d pitched 5.1 innings and gave up five runs off seven hits and walked three. Angel Gillette (SO/Spring, Texas) pitched 1.2 innings and gave up six runs off six hits, walked one and struck out one.

Game Two

The Mustangs took the lead first this time as they scored two runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth for a 4-0 lead. The Lady Eagles were able to get one run back in the bottom of the sixth after Crossno came home after Hali Williams (JR/Bells, Texas) reached first off an error by the shortstop.

Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched 5.1 innings and gave up four runs off eight hits, walked three and struck out four. Gillette pitched 1.2 innings of relief and gave up two hits and struck out one.
