Lady Eagles Split With Hannibal-LaGrange on Senior Day

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams Baptist softball team split with Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday, as they hosted the Trojans for Senior Day. The Lady Eagles honored Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.), Maggie Crossno (SR/Senath, Mo.), Emma Shinn (SR/Melbourne, Ark.), Chasity Gandy (SR/Greenbrier, Ark.), Camryn Martin (SR/Marion, Ark.), and managers Cailey Cossey (SR/Melbourne, Ark.) and Chasaty Malone. The Lady Eagles dropped game one 9-0 and won game two 5-1.

Game One

The first game was not kind to the Lady Eagles, as they were held to one hit for most of the game, and that hit came from their very first at-bat. They were able to collect three more hits in the sixth and seventh innings to give them four total. They weren't able to string those together to score any runs.

Temple pitched a 5.0 innings and gave up three runs off six hits, walked one and struck out seven. Jillian Hunter (SO/Covington, Tenn.) pitched 2.0 innings of relief and gave up six runs off six hits, and walked two.

Game Two

The second game was much kinder to the Lady Eagles hitters as they plated four runs in the first inning. Shelby Jones (SO/Ravenna, Texas) came around to score after Crossno reached base via an errant throw by the shortstop. Then Alyssa Cordell (SO/Bentonville, Ark.) scored off Macy Carter (JR/Paragould, Ark.)'s RBI single to right. Crossno came around to score on Kennedy Johnson (FR/Forney, Texas)'s RBI single, and Carter scored off Katie Anderson (FR/Republic, Mo.)'s RBI single to right.

The Lady Eagles added another run in the second off Cordell's RBI groundout.

The Trojans cut into the lead with one run in the fourth, but that was all they got.

Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched a complete game and gave up one run off five hits, walked five, and struck out three
