Softball Opens 2022 Season With Texas Roadtrip

The Lady Eagles look to build off last season's momentum and return key pieces on both defense and offense. Cassidi Doyle will lead the pitching staff this year after finishing last year on the 2nd Team All-Conference squad. Alyssa Cordell and Kaydra Cole will play roles in the infield, while Megan Weis and Shelby Jones will play roles in the outfield. Cordell was a 1st Team selection last year, while Weis and Jones were on the 2nd Team list.

Head Coach Jessica Nutt hit the recuiting circuits and added some new pieces to the squad including: Tori Kierbach, a freshman pitcher from Mount Olive, Ill.; Anna Besand, a junior utility player from Perryville, Mo.; and Madison Stokes, a junior outfielder/second baseman from Spring, Texas.

"I'm really excited about this year. We are hoping to compete every pitch and win every inning. We are meshing well off the field and I hope it translates to on the field! We also have a lot of depth in multiple positions, so hopefully the competition amongst ourselves to play will push the girls to be their best. I'm excited to finally start playing this weekend and see the product that we put out on the field," Coach Nutt commented.

Williams hits the road to play the University of Dallas in a double header starting at 4 p.m. on Friday and Texas College in a double header at noon on Saturday.
