Doyle's Perfect Game Highlights Sweep of Rust

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. - The Williams softball team swept the doubleheader of Rust College on Tuesday afternoon, with run-rule victories coming in both games. Cassidi Doyle pitched a perfect game in the second game of the twin bill and struck out 13 in the game. The Lady Eagles are 4-0 to start the season.

Game One

Williams won game one 13-2 in five innings. Anna Besand went 3-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs and two doubles. Kaydra Cole went 2-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs and two doubles. Alyssa Cordell went 4-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs and a double. Megan Weis and Madison Stokes also had a RBI each in the game. 

Maddie Wallace pitched a complete game and gave up two runs off two hits and struck out five. 

Game Two

Williams won the second game 20-0 in five innings. Cole led the team with 5 RBIs in the game off two doubles and a triple. Stokes, Shelby Jones, Laila Byas, and Maddi Altenthal all had 2 RBIs, while Cordell, Johnson, Angel Gillette, and Krista Jones all had one. 

Cassidi Doyle pitched a perfect game with 13 strikeouts.

The Lady Eagles travel to Conway, Ark. this weekend for a doubleheader series against Cottey College and Bethel Univ. on Friday and Saturday.
